One of our top tips for the first month of the year is to start a diary. Planning for the year ahead is a great way to prepare for your upcoming garden projects!

Continue to plant any trees, fruits, and flowers when the ground is not frozen over. This is also a great time to get ahead of the weeding and applying compost around your borders.

March brings with it some time to finish any cutting on your summer-autumn fruit plants, as well as a few activities to prepare for the growing season ahead.

Keep an eye on the weather in April and water accordingly, as well as getting your vegetable seeds ready to sow in the nicer conditions.

Now is the time for planting summer tubs and hanging baskets, whilst keeping weeds and overcrowded beds under control.

The frosty weather is now well and truly over, and this brings the opportunity for a whole new crop of plants ready to grow!

This is the time to water regularly, especially with newly planted trees and shrubs. As the risk of pests increase, be sure to protect your plants accordingly!

As your lawn begins to brown, August is the best time to start trimming hedges and killing any small weeds, ready for the colder months to come.

October is the time to move winter vulnerable plants under cover, whilst planting any fruits or veg that are adjusted to the colder temperatures.

The perfect time to plant any deciduous plants, as well as having a general clean out to reduce the chance of disease over the winter months.

For the last month of the year, it’s time to harvest all those winter vegetables you’ve been waiting for, prune back any roses or wisteria plants you may have and plant your fruit bushes ready for the new year!
